Evaluations for Immigration (ECA)

World Education Services (WES) is designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to provide Educational Credential Assessments (ECAs).

An ECA is used to evaluate degrees and diplomas earned outside of Canada. View a sample ECA.

With a WES ECA you can:

  • Meet IRCC immigration program requirements (note for physicians, pharmacists and architects)
  • Meet Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) requirements (especially the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program)
  • Qualify for IRCC’s Agri-Food Immigration Pilot
  • Gain recognition for your education so you can pursue your goals in Canada
  • Store your report (and verified educational documents) for future use

A WES ECA is valid for five years from the date of issue. For example, you can continue using it for future Express Entry profiles.

Note: ECA applicants only need to submit their highest earned credential. However, there are a few exceptions to this requirement. For more information, please read: WES Requirements for ECAs.

  • Your payment must be received before an evaluation can be completed.
  • WES accepts payment by credit card/debit card, or Convera (Formerly Western Union), please be advised that all transactions to and from sanctioned and restricted jurisdictions have been suspended until further notice. Once you submit your application, you will receive a WES reference number. Be sure to write this down and include it on all documents, envelopes, and correspondence with WES. This helps track your records and avoid delays in service.

Required Documents

To ensure that your evaluation is completed without delay, you must follow the document requirements as specified for your country or territory of education.

  • After you receive confirmation from a courier service that documents have been delivered to WES, it may take up to three business days for us to review your documents and update your account.
  • Your documents must be received and accepted by WES before an evaluation can be completed.
  • WES reserves the right to submit documents for verification. When verification is required, we will send copies of documents to the academic institution that issued them with a request that they authenticate the documents. Your evaluation will be placed on hold until the institution replies to WES.
