Immigrant Employment and Labour Market Outcomes Report
Canada’s economic future depends on immigration, yet persistent structural barriers prevent many skilled newcomers from contributing fully to the economy. Using Census and labour force data, this research shows that while newcomer outcomes in the job market have improved, challenges such as credential recognition, systemic bias, and limited networks persist, affecting some groups more than others. Racialized immigrants, women, recent arrivals, and refugees continue to face the greatest barriers. The report highlights how addressing these barriers can improve integration, strengthen productivity, and support inclusive growth across Canada.
