Executive Director, World Education Services
Mariam Assefa has been the Executive Director of World Education Services (WES) since 1982. She served as the 2006 President of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. In 2005 she was awarded Metro International’s Fulbright Award for Contribution to International Education Exchange. Mariam is active in international education and exchange. She frequently presents on foreign educational systems and the recognition of international educational credentials at conferences and workshops worldwide.
Deputy Executive Director of World Education Services and Director of WES Canada
Tim Owen is the Deputy Executive Director of World Education Services, and he has served as the Director of WES Canada since its inception in 2000. Tim has a long history working on immigrant settlement, credential recognition issues, and a career in the non-profit sector that spans 40 years. He is a member of many advisory groups related to this work including the Consultative Committee for the Office of the Fairness Commission of Ontario, the Conference Board of Canada’s Leaders’ Roundtable on Immigration, and the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council.
Deputy Executive Director for Global Talent Policy and Programs
As the Director of WES Global Talent Bridge, Paul Feltman develops outreach and education programs, community partnerships, and policy initiatives focused on helping immigrants successfully integrate into academic and professional settings. He serves as the steering committee chair of IMPRINT, a coalition of organizations active in the field of immigrant professional integration. Paul also serves on the advisory board of the Massachusetts New Americans Integration Institute and the National Blue Ribbon Panel of the Community College Consortium for Immigrant Education.
Deputy Executive Director, CFO
Lisa Connors is the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Executive Director of World Education Services. She has been with the organization since 2010 in various roles in finance and production. Lisa serves on the Board and chairs the Audit Committee of the Westchester Community College Foundation. She holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Deputy Executive Director, Core Services
Steve is responsible for the strategic direction and operation of WES’ revenue-based services. In this capacity, he focuses on the evaluation service, new business development, strategy, and business innovation. Steve is a seasoned executive with a strong track record achieved in a career spent in major education sector companies. He spent many years at Pearson Education, most recently as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Innovation. Steve also teaches at the School of Professional Studies at New York University and at the New York Institute of Finance.
