WES Student Advisor Celebrates International Education Week

NEW YORK, NY–(Nov 12, 2015) –  During International Education Week (IEW), November 16-20, WES Advisor will provide free events and programming that will guide current and prospective international students on their journey to study in the U.S.

Multi-Language Webinar Series

International admissions experts from U.S. schools will speak about admissions, scholarships, language-proficiency exams, and other topics.

  • 16: English – Mark Schroeder, Director of International Admission, University of Toledo
  • 17: Arabic – Mustapha Jourdini, Director of International Recruitment, Lesley University
  • 18: Spanish – Luiz Pereira, Director of International Admissions, Daemen College
  • 19: Mandarin – Peace Li, Associate Director of International Recruitment, Georgia State University

New York City Networking Night

WES Student Advisor will host a networking event at World Education Services’ downtown Manhattan office on Thursday, Nov. 19, to provide international students the opportunity to speak with a panel of experts about internships and job hunting. The event will be broadcast live via webcam, enabling prospective international students to join digitally.

Panelists include:

  • Surabhi Lal, Director of Career Services, New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service
  • Erin Stine, Director of Undergraduate Admission, Parsons School of Design
  • Meghavaty Suresh, Brand Engagement Specialist, The Guardian (Syracuse University, ’15)

Essay Contest and Digital Scavenger Hunt

WES Advisor will hold its third annual essay contest. The topic, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, asks “Why do you think pursuing an education overseas impacts a person beyond just academics?” International students can also participate in a digital scavenger hunt. Students can search for images that represent international education and post to social media. Winners will receive Amazon gift cards and will be featured on WES Student Advisor’s social media channels.
