Fraser International College Focuses on the International Student Experience

Thursday | August 4, 2016 | by WES Global Talent Bridge

The Fraser International College (FIC) is a pathway for international students into second-year studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU), located in British Columbia. FIC’s small class size and personal attention from SFU’s qualified instructors provides a smooth transition into studies in Canada.

In November 2014, Elise Goodreault, a Student Services Coordinator at FIC, received the North Star award from the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) as an emerging leader in the international education field. Elise has helped more than 2,000 international students transition into higher education studies in Canada.

Transitioning to university life in Canada is not always easy for students new to Canada. The support FIC students receive help them through the transition process. In particular, FIC places high importance on the health and well-being of its students. FIC has a very active and involved student population, which further helps with the transition of studying in a new country.

FIC students who go on to graduate from SFU have an opportunity to apply for a three-year Graduate Work Permit, which can be a pathway for those interested in remaining in Canada.

Located at SFU’s main campus in Burnaby, BC, the FIC program starts are in January, May, or September.
