Getting a credential evaluation is an important step toward furthering your education and career. But once you get started, you are likely to have some questions about the credential evaluation process. You might also wonder how you can fully use your report to achieve your goals.

Below are the answers to several frequently asked questions (FAQs) from applicants during the credential evaluation process.

How quickly will I receive my evaluation?

When your evaluation is complete, our staff will send you a physical copy of the report through the delivery service you indicated on your application.

Here is how to determine how many business days it will take for your report to arrive at your address:

  • Standard delivery takes three to five business days, within the United States. However, it will take 30 business days to ship a report internationally.
  • If you are using courier services for your report, it will take one business day for overnight shipping, two business days for second day air, two to three business days for international courier services, and three to five business days for three- to five-day shipping. Courier services provide a tracking number; this lets you know where the report is during its transition and when it arrives.

If you would like to order international courier services, please contact Customer Service. The Customer Service team is available to respond to your questions Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST (not including holidays).

WES offers only digital copies of Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) reports. It can take a few hours for the digital copy to be ready after it is complete.

How will I know when recipients receive their copy of my report?

WES sends electronic reports to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and to AccessWES members. Electronic reports are delivered instantaneously, but the institutional recipients may not review them as soon as they receive them.

The shipping information for your intended recipients is the same as the shipping information above.

Additionally, our staff will inform you when they have shipped your report. From that point on, you can follow up directly with your institution to learn if they have your report.

Can I order another copy of my report, or send a copy to another institution?

If you would like to send your report to another institution, or you would like to order an extra copy for yourself, you can log into your account and order a duplicate report.

You can see step-by-step instructions for ordering a duplicate report below:

I would like a different type of report. How can I proceed?

If you have ordered a Document-by-Document evaluation, you can log into your account and order an upgrade to obtain a Course-by-Course evaluation.

If you would like to add a new credential, but your report is already complete, then you can follow the same process of logging into your account and ordering an upgrade.

However, if you have a U.S. evaluation and would like to order a Canadian report, or you have a Canadian report and would like a U.S. evaluation, you will need to:

  • submit a new application
  • pay all required fees
  • contact Customer Service (so they know to reuse your documents)

The following remark is on my report: “The names on one or more of the academic credentials submitted for evaluation differ from the name indicated above.” What does that mean, and will it cause problems?

Evaluators leave this remark on a report if the name on the application differs from the name on the academic document(s) for one or more credentials. The remark is intended to eliminate confusion on the part of the recipient, who may have questions after seeing different names on the documents. It is not negative or punitive, and it should not cause any problems in the future.

How can I use my evaluation report?

WES applicants can use their reports for purposes of education, employment, licensing, and immigration. More than 2,500 educational, business, licensing, and governmental institutions throughout the U.S. and Canada recognize WES credential evaluation reports. WES is a member of NACES and the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada. Whenever an institution requests a credential evaluation report from a member of the aforementioned organizations, you can send your WES report.
