Statement in response to President Trumpís travel ban on individuals from certain Muslim-majority countries and the halt to the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program
President Trumpís executive order issued last week to stop and indefinitely suspend refugees and others from entering the United States based solely on country of origin is profoundly concerning.
For more than forty years, World Education Services (WES) has been dedicated to helping immigrants, refugees and international students achieve success in the U.S. In that time, we have seen the enormous contributions that these individuals make to our nationís economic, academic and civic life.
WES strongly supports Americaís longstanding tradition of welcoming immigrants, students, and refugees to our shores, and remains committed to doing so now and in the future.† We share the concerns of many that the recent Executive Orders affecting immigrants and refugees conflict with our most fundamental values as a nation of immigrants.
WES is dedicated to helping international students and skilled immigrants fully utilize their talents and education in the United States, and we stand with all the academic institutions and communities that embrace newcomers and support their successful integration.
