HIGHER EDUCATION
- Higher
education is offered at universities, pedagogical universities,
universities of technology, pedagogical institutes, academies,
institutes, and arts conservatories.

- ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Higher education institutions require the Certificate of Completed
Secondary Education for admission to degree programmes. In addition,
most institutions require additional entrance examinations depending on
the field of study undertaken.

- LENGTH
- Two to three years for junior specialist degrees, four years for
bachelor’s degrees, five years for diplomas of specialist, two years
beyond the bachelor’s degree for master’s degrees, three years for
the candidate of science degree, and a minimum of three years beyond the
master’s or candidate of science degree for a doctoral degree.

- ASSESSMENT AND PROMOTION
- Students are required to complete coursework, projects, examinations
and diploma theses in all degree programmes.

- GRADING SCALE
- Students are assessed using a grading scale from one to five; five is
the highest grade and three, the lowest passing grade.

The grade of “Pass” is awarded in cases where no final examination is
offered for a course, or when a course covering two or more semesters of
study is undertaken; upon completion of the course sequence an examination
is taken and a final grade is awarded.
