- At the upper secondary level, students
specialize in science or arts. In addition to Islamic studies and English,
students may choose either four science subjects or four subjects from a social
sciences or general group. The
Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) hold examinations for
grades 11 and 12. There are twenty-one BISE in Pakistan. Upon completion of the
cycle, students take the examinations for the Intermediate Certificate or Upper
Secondary Certificate.

- ASSESSMENT AND PROMOTION
- Students are continuously assessed
through coursework, projects, and annual and semester examinations. Students who successfully complete the Intermediate Education
Examinations at the completion of grade 12 are awarded the Upper Secondary
Certificate.

- VOCATIONAL/TECHNICAL
EDUCATION
- All public vocational institutes are
administered through the provincial education and labor departments.
The minimum qualification to enter male vocational institutions is the
completion of grade 8. Courses are
offered in auto mechanics, carpentry, electricity, agriculture, and commercial
and business skills. Approximately
70% of the coursework is practical experience.

- The curriculum for studies in vocational
and technical programmes varies
depending on the discipline undertaken. A syllabus may be requested, if
