HIGHER EDUCATION

-
- There are twenty-six universities in Pakistan, including five privately
owned. In addition, nine centers of excellence, six area study centers and
six Pakistan study centers have been established in selected specialized
disciplines for study and research. Degree colleges offer four-year courses (which include grades
11 and 12) leading to bachelor’s degrees. In order to complete an honors
degree an additional one year of study is required.
A further two years of study after the bachelor’s degree is
required to obtain a master’s degree.
A doctoral degree normally requires a minimum of three years of
study beyond the master’s degree.
-

jurisdiction. Universities are the degree awarding authorities. All
degrees at the graduate and postgraduate levels are awarded by
universities.
