Assessment and Promotion: 

Upon completion of the lower secondary school level, students are awarded the Chugakko Sotsugyo Shosho (Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate).

Students wishing to proceed to the upper secondary level generally take a secondary school entrance examination, as admission to the upper secondary level is not guaranteed and is quite competitive.
