Structure: 
Depending on the local school, students attend primary school for either five or six years. Pre-school education, via a one-year course before the primary education stage, is offered but not compulsory.

Assessment and Promotion:
Students are assessed through examinations developed by education departments and commissions at the provincial, autonomous region, and municipal level. 
 
Grading Scale:
Most schools follow either the A-F scale found in Canada or the 1-100 scale.
