ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
- Structure:
- Depending on the local school, students attend primary school for either five or six years. Pre-school education, via a one-year course before the primary education stage, is offered but not compulsory.

- Age six or seven

- 5-6 years
- Programme of Study:
- Number of class periods in full-time primary schools

- Note: the length of teaching periods, expressed in minutes, and the average number of periods in each grade cannot be provided.
- Assessment and Promotion:
- Students are assessed through examinations developed by education departments and commissions at the provincial, autonomous region, and municipal level.
- Grading Scale:
- Most schools follow either the A-F scale found in Canada or the 1-100 scale.
