WES Partners
The ultimate goal of many organizations in Canada is assist in the recognition
of international academic credentials. WES’ mission is to facilitate
the integration of internationally educated people into the employment and
education settings of their newly adopted country.
To this end, WES partners with numerous organizations. The following list
is of selected WES partners and a brief explanation of the nature of our
relationship:
Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials
CICIC assists individuals who want to know how to obtain an assessment of their educational,
professional, and occupational credentials by referring them to the appropriate bodies.
It collects, organizes, and distributes information and acts as a national clearing house and referral service to support the recognition and portability of Canadian and international educational and occupational qualifications.
CICIC acts as an umbrella organization representing the Members of the Alliance of Credential
Evaluation Services of Canada of which WES is a member. CICIC maintains an authoritative list of
Canadian postsecondary institutions and provides information on postsecondary education in Canada
and abroad. It also has a collection of 179 occupational information fact sheets for the foreign-trained
seeking recognition of their qualifications.
The Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada
The Alliance is a quality assurance framework with effective mechanisms to establish
quality criteria and standards among provincial credential evaluation services.
These mechanisms prescribe consistent standards of Canadian and international
good practice in the assessment of international educational credentials. Consistent
standards ensure similar assessments for similar cases. However, decisions may
vary according to the territorial or provincial system of education. WES is a
member of the Alliance.
COSTI Languages Bureau
High quality translations are essentials for all international academic credential
evaluation services. COSTI Language Bureau is a full-service operation providing
translations, interpretation, and typesetting services in over 100 languages.
COSTI Languages Bureau and WES have a joint translation and credential evaluation
services: WES-COSTI joint Online Application.
Educational Testing Service Canada and WES
Canadian employers have stated in surveys that language skills and the validity
of international academic credentials are essential requirements to hire new
Canadians. The ETS Canada and WES partnership will address this need, and internationally
educated professionals can now certify their English ability and evaluate their
international academic credentials – all through a single application.
WES provides international credential evaluations and ETS Canada administers
the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC).

Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and
Ministry of Education and Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
In 2000, after a rigorous “request for proposal” process the Ministry
of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) in Ontario selected and awarded
WES a mandate and a contract to deliver Academic Credential Assessment Service
in Ontario. In 2005, our contact was extended for another three years, to bring
awareness to and provide tools for employers in dealing with international academic
credentials. In October 2005, the Access for Professions and Trades Unit of the
MTCU moved to the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and was renamed
the Labour Market Integration Unit.

Seecanada.org
In the last decade, all organizations assisting immigrants have come to the conclusion
that Canada needs to provide more comprehensive information at the pre-immigration
stage where all potential immigrants are equipped with the knowledge about their
professions in Canada.
WES, Settlement.org and Canadainfonet.org are founding member of SEECanada
and our goal have had been to provide the needed information on settlement,
education and employment areas at the pre-immigration stage. Today, SEECanada
has three additional members who provide services at the pre-immigration
stage.
COSTI
COSTI has been assisting immigrants in Ontario and Canada for over 50 years;
the organization provides English Classes, TOEFL Classes and variety employment
assistance services for foreign trained professionals; COSTI's Centre for Foreign
Trained Professionals and Tradespeople was established in 2000 and is funded
by HRDC and operated in partnership with Humber College; the Centre offers WES
evaluation services to foreign trained professionals who participate in their
programs.
Canadian Virtual University
One can complete a Canadian university degree or course before coming to Canada.
You can receive credit for your foreign education, and complete the remaining
courses over the Internet or by mail with one of the consortium of Canadian Virtual
Universities. Over 250 degrees and 2000 courses are available. In addition, you
can present your WES Course-by-Course evaluation report to the consortium members,
and you may receive credit transfer for your international courses. The decision
on transfer credits solely belongs to each academic institution and must be negotiated
directly with each institution.
Career Bridge
Career Bridge is an innovative internship programdesigned to address the dilemma of "no Canadian experience, no job; no job,
no Canadian experience" that prevents many skilled immigrants from contributing
to Canada's economy. Career Bridge requires that applicants who have international
academic credentials have their academic credentials evaluated by World
Education Services (WES) or another provincially mandated service.
Graduate Internship Programs
This organization helps graduates launch their career, while benefiting companies. They place university and college graduates
on a paid internship, where there is a full time job opening. Internships help graduates secure the much needed experience they
require to launch their career. Internships help companies to save money while trying a loyal graduate who comes to them with no bad
habits, high energy, dedication and no resistance to change or corporate culture.
Over 90% of the graduates placed over the past ten years have received a full time job offer. Over 55% of the Interns become first
or second level managers within 3 to 4 years and over 92% are still with the same company they interned with. Long term loyalty in a
world where most people change jobs every few years is a tremendous asset to employers.
