Toronto Region Immigration Employment Council The Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) was launched in September 2003 as a multi-stakeholder council that works to improve access to employment for immigrants in the Toronto region so that they are better able to use the skills, education and experience they bring with them. The Council was launched as a recommendation of the Toronto City Summit Alliance . Immigration was recognized as a key area of concern by the Alliance because of its importance to the Toronto region and the need for it to work better. The goal of the Council is to find and implement local solutions that lead to more effective and efficient labour market integration of immigrants in the Toronto Region. The Council includes representation from private and public sector employers, colleges and universities, community organizations, credential assessment service providers (including World Education Services), organized labour, occupational regulatory bodies, foundations and all three levels of government.
