Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science
Evaluation Requirements
The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science requires the following for all evaluations completed by World Education
Services (WES).
- Evaluation Report Required
The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science requires a Course-by-Course evaluation report for all evaluations
conducted by WES.
- Documents Required by WES
- Official Documents: The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science requires
that WES base its Course-by-Course evaluation report on Official documents for each credential.
For documents to be considered official, they must be sent directly to WES by the educational
institutions you attended. The official documents must indicate the name of the credential, the
courses or subjects studied, the grades earned, the hours of study or number of credits for each
course, and the date of graduation. These documents may be called an academic record, transcript,
detailed marks card, relevé de notes, examination report, extract, student's book, index, or other
names, depending on the country from which it is issued. If required, we may ask for the original
copies of your educational documents after your official documents arrive at our office.
WES understands that it can be difficult and costly for some clients to arrange for official
documents to be sent to our office. Official documents are required if you are planning to use
your report for the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science. WES cannot waive this
requirement.

- Translations: All required documents written in a language other than French or English must be
accompanied by an English translation completed by a certified translator. All translated documents
must also be submitted with the original in the original language.
- Language of Instruction
The CSMLS requires that information about the Language of Instruction at your home
institution(s) is included in the WES Evaluation Report. The WES Evaluation Report lists all
of the languages of instruction that were used in your program of study. If, for example, you
studied in English and another language, the report will indicate both of your languages of
instruction - not just the English. If your program is offered in several languages, but your
language of instruction was exclusively in English, then you will have to make arrangements with
your institution to verify this information. The best way to do this is to have your institution
enclose additional documentation with your official documents confirming your language of
instruction.
- Additional Copy of Report
All clients receive two copies of the completed report. The first copy is always sent to you;
the second copy of your report will be sent directly to the Canadian Society for Medical
Laboratory Science. The Course-by-Course evaluation report is to be sent directly to CSMLS by WES.
In the WES Application Form, indicate the second free copy of the evaluation report to be
directed to CSMLS office.
